Charcoal Facial Cleanser

I love all of the charcoal products on the market! However, as with all store bought products, you are usually getting much more than just a few pronounceable ingredients. Of course, that’s not even mentioning the price…yeesh.

So, again it’s back to the drawing board. We can do it at home, we can do it purer, and we can do it cheaper!

Activated charcoal works by attaching to toxins and absorbing them. It has been used for years in Emergency Rooms across the world for alcohol poisoning and drug overdoses. The charcoal is used to draw out the toxic substances in the stomach, before it can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Using the same logic, we can use the charcoal in our facial cleanser to draw the toxins from the skin. We’ll also be using some baking soda, which absorbs dirt and oil, and lemon juice that not only cleans and tones the skin, but it also levels out the PH from the baking soda, making it much more gentle for the skin.
